What is an estimate?

An estimate is just what it says. When I give an estimate I am usually very close to the actual cost of the job. Please keep in mind though that it is just an estimate. The actual cost of the job could be more or less.

Many people think that when an estimate is given that the price you give is what they pay no matter what. Not So! I am a general contractor registered with the city of Rio Rancho and Albuquerque and I have to charge taxes. Since I have to do this nasty deed, there is no way for me to give an exact cost of any job I do.

Also since you never know what will happen on any job (things do go wrong) and can not be anticipated, that means it can take more time than originally estimated. More time equals more cost. Usually not much but none the less it does not mean the customer only has to pay what the estimate was. I charge a fair fee for my work and I am very good at what I do so I expect to get paid for that work just as you do for the work you do at your job.
